Remote Simultaneous Interpreting (RSI)
More freedom for everyone. Location is no longer an issue. Only the different time zones of speakers, audience and interpreters can be the limiting factor.
For online assignments the on-site fysical interpreting booth is exchanged for a digital interpreting platform.
On the left side, you see the RSI display of SmarTerp which is still in its beta phase.
Big screen: the speaker plus an extra screen for the slides (deaktivated).
Table under the big screen: AI support (terminology, names, numbers)
Medium screen: the active interpreter (speaking for about 20 minutes)
Picture-in-picture: the passive interpreter (standby waiting for the handover)
The audience is in the same room as the speaker, or sees online only the speaker and the slides. Listeners with a headset or a smartphone with earbuds can choose to listen to the speaker or the interpreter with the language of their choice.

Mehr Bewegungsfreiheit für alle Teilnehmer. Die geografische Lage der Veranstaltung spielt nur noch eine untergeordnete Rolle. Hingegen die unterschiedlichen Zeitzonen, in denen sich die Sprecher, Zuhörer und Dolmetscher aufhalten, entscheiden nun eher über die Teilnahme eines jeden Einzelnen.
Bei Online-Dolmetschereinsätzen wird die sonst übliche Dolmetscherkabine durch eine digitale RSI-Plattform ersetzt.
Links sehen Sie den Bildschirm der RSI-Plattform von SmarTerp, die sich zur Zeit noch in der Testphase befindet.
Großer Bildschirm: der Sprecher plus ein zusätzlicher Bildschirm für die Präsentation (nicht aktiviert).
Tabelle unterhalb des großen Bildschirms: AI-Assitenz (Terminologie, Eigennamen und Zahlen)
Mittlerer Bildschirm: aktive Dolmetscherin. (Spricht ca. 20 Minuten bis zur Übergabe an den Partner in der digitalen Kabine).
Kleines Bild-in-Bild: der passive Dolmetscher. (Wartet auf das Übergabezeichen seiner Kollegin. Kann aber auch jederzeit übernehmen).
Das Publikum befindet sich entweder zusammen mit dem Sprecher im selben Raum oder ist online zugeschaltet. In letzterem Fall folgen Sie dem Vortrag über die smarTerp-App. Zuhörer im Saal hören die Verdolmetschung über zur Verfügung gestellte Kopfhörer oder über die Ohrststöpfel ihres Smartphones. Gleiches gilt für zugeschaltete Teilnehmer, die auf Simultandolmetscher angewiesen sind. Jeder Teilnehmer wählt die gewünschte Sprache in der smarTerp-App.
